Just saw this about philps TV models back to 2014 getting upgrades to Oreo:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/06/28/philips-2014-2018-android-tvs-get-updated-android-8-0-oreo/
Will the 2017 models from Sony get it?
All Sony ATV2 (MediaTek MT5891) based models will receive Oreo at some point in time. So this includes all TVs since mid-2016 since they all share the same firmware image (up to latest XF90, AF8).
Looks like Sony ATV1 (MT5890) is slowly reaching EOL. This includes all Android TV models in 2015 and early 2016. If the article you linked to is true, Philips/TP Vision will also update their older MT5890 lineup.
What this basically means is that the cheap entry level TVs from 2016 (XD75/XD80) get the update while the expensive ones (XD85/XD93/XD94) do not. Same is true for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Has anyone from Sony Europe actually confirmed this btw? I can still find nothing...
