XR-55X94K - high pitched whine when certain settings switched on. Is this normal?

Having taken delivery of my 2nd replacement TV from Sony within 3 months, they have now given me the XR-55X94K (instead of the X94J as per my previous replacement). Only problem is it has a high pitched whine that can be clearly heard if using CINEMA mode, and varies in intensity when using local dimming, and only going (almost) quiet if either of these setting are turned off.

Having had a chat with the local company Sony used to deliver the TV their engineer is saying this is normal and nothing can be done, but I don't recall ever having this problem on any of my previous models. But then, this is a company where the technician delivering it wasn't even aware he's brought a different model, and still wouldn't accept it when I showed him the labels on the back of the 94J and 94K...

So my question is, does anyone else have a similar problem with this model? And what's the point of having these feature if using them means having a noise akin to a whistle being blown in your ears all the time?
