Sony Bravia tv KDL-32W5810 which will not store programmes

I have a Sony Bravia tv KDL-32W5810 which will not store programmes. Each time it is switched on, even from stand-by, I need to re-tune it. After re-tuning all the programmes are available although the program guide does not populate. Any ideas or is it just getting old.

Hi Alex,

Welcome to the community.

I'll see if I can track down an answer. Maybe someone else in the community has an idea in the meantime.

Thanks,

Pascale

Hi Alexmcleodnairn,

Have you tried auto tuning the TV? You can find the steps of doing this on page 100 of the Manual available through this link: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/res/manuals/ADJ5/ADJ51001M.pdf

Yes. Auto tune is what I must do each time I switch the set on.

Hi alexmcleodnairn,

How about resetting the TV to factory settings? The steps are available on page 93 of the same manual.

Hi again,
Yes. Tried factory settings without success I’m afraid.

Hi Alex,

Does the antenna work fine with a different TV? Also, I'd say that connecting a splitter or a booster might affect the signal. so, could you remove any connected boosters or splitters?

Hi,

You do not appear to understand the problem here.
When I retune the TV I get a good strength signal and all the programs are available.
But, once the set is turned off or set on standby when I power up again I get a message that no programmes have been stored.
So, I guess, the TV software is not storing the programmes.

Regards and thanks for your efforts

Hi Alexmcleodnairn,

Oh, I guess I got a bit confused. I've checked for updates available for this TV, and I found a software update available in the product page.

Could you try updating the software as explained here: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/lcd-tvs-legacy-lcd-tv/kdl-32w5810/downloads/Z0000302 ?

Cheers,

Hi again,

This file updates all previous firmware versions to version PKG 1.740SA.
I checked set-up and found that this update has already been installed on my TV.
Looks like we are running out of options.
