Hi,
I have recently bought a new SONY BRAVIA KD49XD8305BU 4K TV and I'm looking to buy a Sony blu ray player to go with it. Some out there now have a 4K upscale feature but is that really needed if the TV is already upscaling? My local Currys have a Sony guy in the store and I asked him the question and he said they will work together to provide a better upscale. I replied saying that the TV is already upscaling so what's the point. He said I see, just buy a standard blu ray and save yourself £30.
Hi there
Thats Marketing for ya .... The TV will upscale to 4K anyhow. Will the 4K Bluray Upscaler work better - hard to know, but if there is a difference, im reasonably confident you will not know.
However Sony do have some bluray players that have the option of "Mastered in 4K" - which you would enable, but you also need to purchase the "Mastered in 4K" editions of the disc too. See:
