SONY BDP-S480 Firmware update.

I recently picked up a brand new old-stock Sony BDP-S480 Blu-ray/DVD player (2011 model, Region B, UK).

It’s still on the original firmware and I’d like to update it via the CD-R method on Windows.

The Sony UK download page returns a broken link:

However, the equivalent Sony.com page works:

Two questions:

1. Is it safe to update a Region B player using the Sony.com download?

2. Is it the same firmware as the UK version?

For anyone else with the same issue in future, I went ahead and tried the firmware on Sony.com and it worked through updating via CD-R.
