Battery drained during update - what are my options?

Yesterday I installed the Sony Companion software on a Mac to update my Xperia Go. Due to spotty internet acces, it was taking a while to download the new firmware, so I left the Mac on and the handset connected and went about my business.

I forgot all about the phone and went to bed. Next morning I see that the handset is absolutely, completely dead. I left it connected to a wall charger the whole day and tried the power + vol up trick, but it is still dead.

Do I have any options getting the phone operational or should I contact a repair center?

You can try to charge your phone with another charger for a few hours. If you still can't power on the phone by press and hold the power button and volume up, you can try to repair the phone software using Bridge for Mac. Press phone in Bridge for mac without the phone connected. Select to repair phone. Follow the on-screen instructions in Bridge for Mac.

If the phone still doesn't power on I suggest that you have the phone examined by service center. Please contact your local support for more information:

After many unsucessful attempts with a Belkin USB wall charger I tried using the original charger supplied with the phone. That was the trick. The handset is alive again.

I always thought USB was USB, and I have no idea what the Sony charger does differently, but now I learned to keep the supplied chargers handy!
