Can files larger than 4GB be used?

Is it possible to use a filesystem other than FAT32 on the external SD card, in order to overcome the 4GB maximum file size of that filesystem?

I've tried formatting the card with ext2, ext3, ext4 and even exFAT, but the phone doesn't recognize it, and promply reformat it as FAT32. I'd like to be able to record more than 30 minutes of video in one go, but the file become too large around that length.

Unfortunately not, the OS will only handle FAT32.
