Incoming call - no alert (no sound) - only vibrate works

Incoming call: no alert  - After upgrade to Kernel 3.0.08+  build 6.1.1.B.1.54 incoming calls don't give any sound. I can manage to get the 'Vibrte on Ring' working but no alert sound ! Hence I miss many incoming calls. Silent mode = 'Off' Please help.

If I select a different ringtone using Sound Picker - the 'music' doesn't play neither.

Please help

As per RubinOwnz I would have to agree that you have a hardware problem. I understand this happened after your last upgrade, however if it was a software issue one of the many steps you have taken prior to now would have resolved it. I would advise returning the handset so that we may have it assessed by an authorised repair agent.

I have similar problem after the jb update: sometimes when i receive a call the phone only vibrates but no sound. Times like this the line become silent until i put the sound to speaker. Really annoying and had no problem with ics. And its happen with 15% of the incoming calls. Didnt experience with outgoing calls.

@Sam: I brought it to an authorised dealer who will send it to a repair shop.

Still the series of problems with this phone and the Sony support team not responding is a failing customer support.

Why should I ever buy a SONY again ?

Nobody is really forcing you to buy a phone from Sony. You can go ahead and chosse whatever you want. My point is, think about the one you have, what can you do to fix it. We can stay here all day saying Sony Xperia P is a shitty phone because of this and that, but it won't fix our phones. This problem seems to be persisting, and even after trying many fixes and stuff, my phone still shows this from time to time. All we can hope for it's for another bug fix from Sony. It won't happen, but lets just keep a positive mindset.

Hi RubinOwnnz,

This is a consumer product - not an geek pre-production unit with extraordinary features.

It uses proven technology and stil lSONY can't get it fixed.

The promise made by SONY was a working smart phone

The product delivered was a smart phone not intended to upgrade - even if you are lured into upgrading by SONY (they proposed it in the update center several tmes before I pushed the OK on the screen).

SONY should get their act together.

Can I invoice all my wasted hours due to the time invested to find the problems to SONY?

Just an invoice of $515,- as SONY is liable for this waist of time.

I agree with you for everything you said. Also have some things to add to that, but I find it not useful. I'm just saying that complaining here isn't going to make Sony to fix all the problems. Anyway, I'm also disappointed from Sony. We, customers, paid for a decent phone, and we aren't getting one. Instead we are wasting our time around the forums trying to find a solution for them, when it's the job of some other who people are getting payed for, to do it.

If you know, help me please. Link me to some place where I can complain about it.

The only power we have is to put the SONY Xperia bad experience on social media: Faceook, Twitter, LinkedIn.

SONY will have marketing people scanning these social media and are afraid of any negative publicity. This is the department that invested a lot of money in Skyfall - the movie and the advertising around it.

We can destroy all this expensive marketing by strating a social media camapign telling the truth about SONY Xperia and advising not to buy.

Meh, you are exaggerating it. Just because we got a buggy update doesn't mean the whole world should stand up for us. I like sony products in general, just because this one is a bad one, doesn't mean ima go write fake things over the web for bad publicity.
