sony xperia ion restarts when the gps

In general, such a problem ... gps enabled and is not run applications that use it all right, but once you launch any application that tries to determine the location of 30 seconds after the screen goes out and goes to the phone restarts ... anyone any ideas?

I've got the same problem....gps enabled and is not run applications that use it all right, but once you launch any application that tries to determine the location of 30 seconds after the screen goes out and goes to the phone restarts.

I'm running the 4.0.4 andoid version, Build number 6.1.E.3.7

I'm not sure how to root the phone e change the "1- google.com and 2- 7276".

Anyone can help me? I appreciate if anyone could send me the step by step.

Tks

Enabling the GPS reboots my phone when I also use the camera.

I went through the same "instructions" Sony seems to tells everyone. Now looks like a wild goose chase.
Try another camera.
Reset your phone.
Use the PC companion.
Call our service center (I did: Sony told me my phone was BER (beyond economic repair). Charged me 25$. Oh yes, then they told me my warranty was out.

None of it worked, and I think Sony knows that by now.

If this GPS issue was well-known, then this procedure is a cash grab, and dishonest. This is not a 10$ widget, this is a 600$ piece of electronic hardware. The cost of simply and honestly taking care of the issue is marginal to Sony. Now they've lost me as a client. That's not a good business plan.
I do not recommend Sony Xperia.

What was the reasoning behind "...Sony told me my phone was BER (beyond economic repair..."

What other issues does your phone has?

No other issue that I know of.

My phone rebooted when I used the camera for more than a few photos. Now it seems it's the GPS that caused the rebooting problem. When I disable the GPS, the camera doesn't reboot (I'd have to test that again to confirm). But then I dont have the GPS data in the photos, which is a drag.

I can't know what Sony really means by, or why they say BER.  I asked, and they've said they no longer have parts for that phone, and/or my warranty is out. It's kind of a generic answer. That of course does not resolve my problem. Forking out another 600$ for a new phone would resolve the issue.

Sorry to hear that, perhaps if you contact them again regarding this, if they can be more specific, also on a side note, did you purchased the phone or did you get it from a carrier?

I did this and now my gps works like a charm Grinning_Face

you'll need:A rooted phone
A file explorer (Root explorer)

Get you NTP server info:http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/

► Click Active Servers, and find your region and Country.
► If you didn't find your country (like me), choose something close to your country.
► Write down all info about the server:

example: 0.europe.pool.ntp.org...

► Now that you wrote down those info, we need to let the phone know those info to get a faster fix.
► The GPS module gets the info from a file called "gps.conf" in /etc/ so we need to edit that...

Editing gps.conf File:► Delete everything in gps.conf file
  DO NOT REBOOT AFTER THE ABOVE STEP!!!
► Copy everything below, and paste it in your gps.conf file:

NTP_SERVER=0.COUNTRY.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.COUNTRY.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.COUNTRY.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.COUNTRY.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.REGION.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.REGION.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.REGION.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.REGION.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=COUNTRY.pool.ntp.org

XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin

SUPL_PORT=7276
SUPL_NO_SECURE_PORT=3425
SUPL_SECURE_PORT=7275

# TRUE for "User Plane", FALSE for "Control Plane"
DEFAULT_USER_PLANE=TRUE

►Now change COUNTRY to the country you wrote down earlier, and REGION to the region you wrote down.
►Save the file, and double check that its permissions are rw-r--r--.
►Turn on your GPS.
►Reboot.

GPS test:► Now to get a quick fix, the GPS system uses something called AGPS, which helps the GPS locate you, it uses the AGPS to help you know your approximate location.
► Download GPS test, and install it.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&feature=search_result#?t=W251bG.....

► Open it, go to menu-settings, and press clear AGPS.
► OPTIONAL: reboot
► After clearing AGPS, press Update GPS.
► You'll get a GPS lock in about 5 seconds Grinning_Face

NOTE: Leave your GPS on and locked for about 10 minutes without moving, this will let android learn the new info you gave.
