hello all,
i bought xpria u yesterday & was happy with it until yesterday. Today i wanted to plug my phone to my pc (win-xp sp3). I connected the phone to cpu by the usb cable (the same cable which is used for charging by adaptor). I got message that my hardware was not installed completely. Then I downloaded pc companion from internet & tried everything i could but the pc companion couldnt even detect my phone. I followed everything mentioned in this post. but unsucessfull. i also tried repairing by PCC. When followed the step in which i press lower volume button + insert usb i got a green light in the transparent band. Then my pc started installing drivers again but still got some error, though this time it could recognise the name 'ST25i'. In device manager i can see SEMC HSUSB Device (has a yello exclamation) under Portable Devices. Can anybody help me?:smileysad:
Why you did this to me Sony? I have been your loyal consumer, but now it seems you have started compromising quality & costomer satisfaction! Certainly I will NEVER buy my next smartphone from U.

First Check on Windows 7 PC.
@anandtapas but i dont have windows 7!
sony does not specify any compatibilty problem with xp sp3!
@uliwooly i tried with sus as well.
when i performed the step in which i press low volume button + insert usb windows says that there was a problem installing the hardware. sus doesnt do anything & pauses at that step.
somebody please help me since i dont have windows 7:smileycry::smileycry::smileycry:
@Johan can you help me please.
yes it must work with xp. i just said to use win 7 to make sure that there is no other issue with the phone and pc connection.
ok the latest news is that i was able to connect my phone to my friends win7 64 bit laptop. but i didnt try pcc or sus. Can anybody from Sony tell me why i cannot connect my phone to xp sp3 when you mention that even xp sp2 is compatible (on pcc & sus download link)? Johan can you please help?
Another thing that i noticed while connecting to wi-fi in my college is that, i cannot somehow browse internet but google apps run perfectly! I could open my gmail account & sync it. i could also open facebook & google maps. however i couldnt Do a simple google search! neither could i browse anything on the browser. dont know whether my fone is faulty or what. my friends suggested to try proxy but i couldnt find any option for proxy settings.
PLEASE HELP ME SOMEBODY!!! I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! I THINK I MADE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN MY LIFE BY BUYING A SONY SMARTPHONE..........:smileyangry:
Your problem is probably caused by your PC not being able to detect what driver to apply automatically. I suggest that you manually install the missing driver via the device manager. Point the search for drivers top the drivers folder in PC Companion. That driver is in there so it be able to find it if you point the search path to: C:\Program\Sony\Sony PC Companion\Drivers
(Might be different on your system, mine is Swedish)
thank you johan for replying.
can you please give me a step by step procedure on how to manually install driver in device managerin win xp?
i havnt done this before & dont want to mess up with drivers on my pc.

waiting eagerly for your reply.
