Dear friends,
I uptodated my Xperia S to android 4.1.2
Howver, since then, my messaging has stopped working. & so does my email.
All the time I get this message on my screen: "Unfortunately, messaging has stopped. Ok."
And I can only check ok & nothing more.
Will you please help me?
Appreciate your care,
Neda
Hi Nedane,
I think you didn't do factory reset update so while updating your system files will be overwritten, in some cases if it didn't write properly you will get this error, Goto settings->Apps->and select all-> scroll down to messaging ->click message and click clear data, if you face the issue with another app like mail also, goto->settings->Apps->all and press menu and select reset app preferences.
After the above process if you face the issue still then do a factory reset or factory reset repair using SUS software below is the link to download SUS, before factory reset remember to backup your data.

Dear Andrew,
I do appreciate your help. but it didn't work.
It's true I have this damn problem with my messaging & mail. But I've still got it
Neda
Then better do a repair using SUS like i mentioned above, before that try the steps given in below link
Dear Andrew,
You think I've problems with the new system then?
Am downloading the software again from the link that you have provided.
Will let you know what happened.
Thanks a bundle,
Neda
Hi Andrew,
I did what you told me. It took me 6 hours or more to get that software & I lost all my information & programs.
By the help of PC Companion I restored my info; however, again i have this message that: "Unfortunately messaging has stopped.: ....:smileycry:
it was futile what I did & it's as if I have wasted both my time & all the data that I had....
.........
Did you test this before restoring any backup? It's possible that you backup contains some corrupt data that stops the messaging application from working properly.
Dear Johan,
Hi,
I guess you're right. Because I downloaded Sony Mobile update service from the site that Andrew above had provided & it was working alright. But as soon as I restored my data using PC Companion, again I had that message.
So I used restore factory & consequently lost all my messages-- I had a copy of other files.
But now fortunately it is working well & it is the uptodate version luckily.
It's cool & I like it. However, next time that my cell phone says taht there's a new system available, am sure to ignore this message 😉
hatnks & peace,
Neda
Hello. I also encounter the same problem. What did you to make it work fine? Where can I find the restore factory? Thank you
Dear Nitsirk,
Hi,
As I had explained in the previous message, first I used the packup profile in my Sony PC Companion. Then after uptodating my system, I restored my data again by PC companion. However, I had some of my data back but again I had that message that "Unfort, messaging has stopped"
So I didn't use the restore option. Instead I copied all my photos & the files that I could copy on my Laptop & then I went to 'Setting' in my Phone, the 'Backup & Reset' option. There you can find 'Factory data reset'. I was lucky because the phone started with the new System & it's very good indead comparing with the old one. However, I only lost my messages & the programs that I had on my phone. But I could use my messaging & my phone is working perfectly since then. A friend here told me that maybe in your restored info there has been a corrupted data 😕 well I have no idea...
Hope these explanations will be of any help to you.
Still if you have any question please don;t hesitate to send me a message.
Peace,
Neda
