Hello, I've got my new Xperia Ion phone.
The interesting thing that i've noticed that really bothers me that when my battery power reduces to 20% of power it drops to 1% after few minutes.
After that the phone shuts down.
I couldn't find any setting in my phone that do that, so I believe the reason is not the settings.
Did anyone experienced such thing and can help me to solve this issue?
Thanks
Vlad.
This could be related to a software issues, is this something that is constant or does this only occur randomly?

I have the same problem too but it doesn't happen all the time which is even more worse cause you don't know whether your phone will turn off or not.
Well, I have my phone only for two weeks its completely new and this problem accurs each time i reach 20% - 26% of battery power depends on the phone usage at that specific moment, for instance if the battery level is 30% and I start intensively use my phone (facebook + skype and radio on the background) which very strains the battery, the battery power will drop somewhere arround 24%-26% and if there's a normal phone usage the battery drops to 1% when it reaches 20%, but it never gets to 19% and drops. I allready talked to Sony Support, they sent me the link to software update, but it didn't help, same problem remains on the updated version too.
If the problem is not in software, i think the problem is that Ion's battery comes built in, which I think is not so good, because all Lithium Ion/Polymer batteries that remain inside devices for a long time without use slowly get discharged and when those batteries voltage lowers under 3.0 volt it hurts the battery and the battery keeps much less time, and it's power sudenly drops when the device requres more current.
But from the other side if the battery is hurt, why it's power drops only around specific battery level (20%-26%)
Anyway, Sony please investigate this thing, before I order a new battery
Cheers, Vlad.
Hello, I have the same problem, I was informed to reinstall the system but it didn't solve the problem but actually it'll keep growing like now yours is shutting down at 26% the next time it'll shut down at 30% and then 35% .. etc I really hope that Sony fix this issue quickly before we shift to Samsung Galaxy
Hi XAlaa, first of all the battery issue is not the reason to shift to Samsung or any other phone. Becides, Sony makes much better products then Samsung, I'm telling you as a person that had Galaxy S i9000 and Galaxy S3.
I'm sure the main reason of this problem is that some Sony Ion phones remain to long on the shelf without charging before someone buys it, and battery gets totaly discharged. As I described in my previos post, this couses damage to the battery.
The bottom line, the only reason to fix it is to replace the battery.
Good luck guys.
Hello jake, the battery issue happens like once in 5 or 6 times when it reaches 30% for me. Now there's a problem with the facebook inside xperia feature. It fails to update. Could you please let me know about how to get rid of theses two issues cause it's very frustrating as my phone is not even two months old.
hi..is this problem solved?i have the same issue with my phone too..bought it 3 months ago, now my battery suddenly drop from 20% to 1%..then it shut down. It's very annoying, i wonder is it the software problem or the battery problem..i checked in other topic about the same problem happend with other xperia model, this is mostly caused by software/firmware problem..
i hope sony has a good answer/solution to this..as what i notice there are already several people facing the same problem...thanks
Hello guys.
It looks like I've found the reason for battery power drop from 20% to 1%.
And the reason is the background process which is "Power Saver" look at the attached image.
Here is the way to shut it down:
Go to your Sttings => Apps => Running. Now find "Power Saver" process, tap on it to enter inside, then tap on STOP button. Thats it.
Now remeber this process starts to work each time you restart the phone. I couldn't find the way to uninstall it yet, but i'll try to find a way and post it here.
Try it and post here whether it worked for you or not.
Good luck.
Vlad.
owh..thnks for the tips..haven't been able to try that..by the way, i already send my phone to service centre..have to wait couple of days for them to dignose n fix things...huhu
