i was updating the ICS of my xperia s to 4.0.4 and it all went well... the xperia s turned off and was going to restart itself for running the latest ICS. However my laptop went out of battery at that moment and right now my xperia s keeps on rebooting itself, the screen went black then the "SONY" logo appears then black screen and "SONY" logo.... nonstop
i've tried to press the force restart which is the "ON" button together with the "Volume Up" button, I've hold that until it vibrated. I've also tried to press the force restart until it vibrated for 3 times. Do that with the USB cable connected and disconnected from my laptop. However, in all situations, the same problem arises again... nonstop rebooting...
What can i do right now to continue the update process or just to restart xperia s?
Solved! Go to Solution.
First shutdown your phone
Press and hold Power Button and Volume Up button at the same time
5 Seconds > Restart Phone
10 Seconds > Shutdown Phone
After that repair your software

Backup everything as it will erase all data on phone (sms, contacts, apps)
Update/Repair your phone via PCC or SUS
PCC (PC COMPANION) – Repair your software with this .First do the setup without connecting your mobile to pc.(only connect when you are asked to).
Do it as follow >> PCC > SUPPORT ZONE> SOFTWARE UPDATE> REPAIR SOFTWARE (written with blue)
PC Companion http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/
SUS ( Sony Update Service) ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe
or
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
Both the links are same

thanks for the help
i've shutdowned the phone. actually i've already installed the PCC in my laptop and i've tried using this : http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/ and SUS as u've suggested. The laptop did "sense" the phone once its connected to the laptop since the phone was switched on. However, the phone has the same problem of nonstop looping "black screen" then "Sony" logo again right after its connected and therefore PCC couldnt detect the presence of the phone.
thanks for the help but sorry to have asked again..... what can i do at the moment.....
thanks for the help. the problem was solved after waiting for half an hour.
thanks again
Great that you sorted it out
Remember : you need your mobile to be switched off, and you don't have to connect to pcc and sus until you are asked to do so
thanks again and thanks for the effective reply
Thanks Nabeel
hello I've repaired my software using the PCC and followed instructions
the phone is also shut down when i attached it to the usb cable holding the volume down key last night but today the problem is still not solved,,, my xperia s still keeps restarting:(
what do I do?
I did not install any apps
Try to use your mobile without SIM card for a day and see if it restarts
Except for few places of misunderstanding in the instructions ("your phone has to be off" emphasized in the last note), this finally worked for me. I didn't know what my problem was since battery drain constantly kept me from checking into it but this process solved the problem apparently. Now that I have a "factory reset" Xperia, with a different IOS I guess since it looks a lot different, it's a blank slate. I'm hoping the battery drain problem is gone as well.
Thank you. I just hope this fix lasts. Otherwise, it's "recycle" -- I don't approve of just throwing our elecronics in the trash if it can be reused.
