Yellow tint

Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen,  or the glue that was used to put display together.

Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

heeeeeeeeeeeeeeellp.. i had this problem in my mobile.. i get xperia s from america and i live in egypt... what can i do??? agent in egypt refuse to replace mobile  because of international warranty

there isn't an international warranty from Sony, you might want to contact Sony Mobile USA and send it

Suffer...like I am, with a phone manufactured in Denamrk no less, and resident in India.

If your dealer drags his legs on the issue, or refuses point blank to do anything about it, there's almost nothing you can do.

Hey guys! I went to the Sony Ercicsson Service Centre! From the 1st I bought my phone on the 5th of April! So 1st time I found the yellow tint at the bottom of my display atafter that I went for my 1st servicing! After few days the yellow tint appears again,they did chg the whole LCD they showed me and the LCD is wrapped with stickers and something like screen protectors it is new! So on May 28th I went for the second time servicing! Before I sent my phone I have already waited their new parts arrived which is 2nd batch! So after arrived,then I sent to the service centre and they replaced the LCD as well! Same with plastic and the..! So the temperature goes above 40 degree above and thr is no yellow spot everything..it is nice BUT..Is not nice! This problem already have since the 1st time screen replacement and 2nd time replacement have also! The brightness is 100% here! So guys if u guys done servicing go check out any store and compare with the demo set! I'm going to HQ for a one to one now! NO MORE SERVICING! Im not sure thier parts is it real or not! As their parts I don't trust man! Check out the photos below to see the differeces! As you can see mine is like not white from the google webpage! All the wallpapers with white mine got whole yellow there and eventhe wallpaper cosmic flow colour very different the color is not sharp and reality anymore! Mine doesnt feel the reality! As the demo set is so white and color is so gorgeous which feels reality and makes you back off from the screen! Mine not even! I'm from Malaysia here!

Ok I finally created the account to post on this thread....I've been reading the posts put up by Steve,3eb,bas2sin and the problems everyone faced with their phone. I have a Xperia S 12w11 and I do have the yellow tint. I did not initially notice it but after going through this thread I tested the screen when it reached a temperature of 40 degrees and noticed the yellow tint becoming quite obvious. I opened office suite since everyone noticed in white or grey background.

I'm from India so I called the sony complaint number and they said they were aware of the issue and asked me to visit the nearest sony centre. When I went there the service engineer had no idea about the problem so I ended up login on to the forum and showed what the entire issue was all about. Then the service rep asked me to come back the next day while he gathered more info on it. I get a call next day and was asked to come down to the service centre. He says he got a mail from Sony and was asked to do some steps which would allow the tint to go. All he did was a factory reset but the yellow tint was still there. So he took the phone and said he needs to send it to Chennai(Main service centre city) and get it replaced. I waited for one week and they replaced it with a new set but same 12w11 batch.  I checked the phone and I still could see the yellow tint at the bottom of the screen.I reported the problem to which the service rep said people are using it like that itself and adviced me to use it since it apperars only when it becomes hot. That pretty much pissed me off and I informed the manager of the service centre would he use it like that if he spent 30K plus on a phone. The manager understood the problem and said I would need to wait for 2 months for the 2nd batch to come in to get a replacement.It's been 1 and a half months.Hoping the 2nd batch solves the problem. Fingers crossed....Also my friend who lives in another city has the yellow tint on the edges of the screen. Sony service centre refused to replace it as they said replacement is only for handsets with yellow tint at the bottom and not the edges....I mean WTF Sony....What BS is that anyway?

I bought myself a Xperia S phone and had the same screen problem after 2 weeks. I've sent the phone back to the store which I bought the phone from, and from there they sent it back to Sony for service.I'd like to ask how long will it take to repair the phone? Because purchasing a pretty expensive phone and having problems isn't quite the best advertisment of a new "era"of a company such as Sony.

Alright! Im gonna ask the question here! Did you guys screen same as mine whole yellow screen even the live wallpaper color like faded compare to the demo set? The Sony Support said is normal! I was like wtf..so did you guys same as mine whole yellow and faded wall paper and is it normal? As the display is not sharp man,this happens after replacing the LCD. After I get my phone it's already like that,I compared the diff between demo,the Sony Support said the demo set not many ppl use,not many ppl try using it,heeeloo? If is the screen so nice color and sharp why it would change to whole yellow? Are you sure Sony Xperia Support?

OK. It's probably not going to work out at all.

Dealer and SONY havr both hit me hard.

After K790i , X10i, tablet S, the S will almost certainly be the last SONY phone I'll own.

Is the likely upgrade to ICS going to help out with the yellow tint issue in any way? Or is it purely a hardware probblem, and cannot be solved without getting it repaired/replaced.

It's a pure hardware thing.

I registered for a screen replacement, got a call 2 weeks later asking to bring my phone down.

5 days later I got the phone back, though I do notice the new screen has a warmer color cast.

BONUS: My phone has taken a BAAAAD fall and was really dinged and dented up. They replaced ALL HOUSING COMPONENTS for free...

So now I have a "feels like brand new" phone.
