Do I need some software to help me connect lap top to Bravia 40" 3D?

I have correct leads, the tv shows a still of the background screen, but nothing else happens. After a while trying t adjust my ADI settings following computer instruction ( Acer 5100) I lose the mouse icon from the lap top. Have to reboot to get it back!

Al what You need is HDMI 1.4 cable if You like to whatch 3D content and make settings so as on link when You klick on typ of Your graphic card on link down. Klick on and scroll down to see and follow istructions.
