I have three Sony TVs, a KDL-55W829B and two KDL-32W705Bs all with the latest firmware PKG3.006EUA.
Over the last two days, all three have started to turn off and back on again. I did a factory reset but the problem remained. I then did a factory reset with WIFI turned off and that fixed the problem.
This firmware has been installed for a long time now, so have SONY downloaded something to them to cause this problem?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Thanks.
I have decided to leave Wi-Fi off so that the problem goes away. Most of the Apps that were with the TV have since been removed by Sony so there seems little point in leaving it on. I also use Chromecast so anything that the TV did for me using Wi-Fi has become redundant.
It was frustrating though that my three TVs all stopped working at the same time, and it took me quite a few hours of trial and error to find a solution.
Hopefully this post will help other people.
Quite possibly, but see if you have a serving called ‘Wake on LAN’ or similar, and turn that off.
Then maybe you can keep your WiFi on, on these sets, without getting the issue.
Maybe Remote Start, and something is triggering this?
m afraid not. Turning off Remote Start doesn't help
I don't think due to age of the these TV sets there has been any new recent update, in fact I think I stumbled recently on an article which noted that Sony terminated software updates for older models, so even if you didn't have the latest version, you wouldn't have been able to update them any-more.
Anyway, I would recommend to test them with no external devices if there's any connected, maybe that could help.
And check if there's any power saving, idle TV standby, or eco modes got enabled by mistake.
Thanks.

Indeed it is annoying having to deal with 3 TVs at once, and most definitely time consuming.
And yea, try to mark your answer as resolved so that others can see it easily, cheers.
