Bios Problems

Ok so, ive had this VGN-FW11E for a few years, I have never formatted it since i was scared to not get it running again, since sony doesnt provide _any_ driver-cd's with the laptop. (Ive made a recovery disk dont worry). Now after all these years, the thing has gotten as slow as .....

As I would need to run some CAD/PLC programms on it, winVista is not the option. My goal was today to install a dualboot of winXP and win7. My first problem occured yesterday whilst trying to install winXP.

1. I insert a bootable winXP DVD, everything goes right untill i get a bsod saying: STOP 0x00000007B, now after some googling i found out i should do the following:

1. On start up, press F2 to enter BIOS

2. Expand the "Drives" section

3. Go to "SATA Operation"

4. Change this from "RAID Auto/AHCI" to "RAID Auto/ATA"

This i found om some other site, but the problem is that when i actually get into BIOS, i only have like 2 options that i can actually adjust, TIME and DATE, other options are greyed out.  There is NO "Drives"  section, I dont see SATA ANYWHERE.

Im getting aggitated with this, any other PC ive had i could almost change anything in BIOS, CPU, clock speed etc... but with this sony i cant change anything:////

Why do I only have 2 options in bios that are adjustable, and why is there no Drives/SATA operation?????

Much help appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please sent me an e-mail if you someone answered to my problem, since I dont know if this forum will sent auto e-mail if so. thx

(Niet zeker of dit in het nederlands _moest_)

Hi,

You should be able to change the boot sequence via the recovery utililty.

To access the Recovery utility start your vaio & press F10 wen you see the Sony logo.
