Installing the complete version of the manual

If I go into the manual in "About your VAIO" in VAIO care, it open an IE9 window at a page that says it is a brief introduction. It gives me instructions on how to download the complete manual for offline use:

1. Close the Window (presumably the IE9 one containg the instructions)

2. Click Start -> VAIO Manual

3. An update window is supposed to appear. It doesn't, but IE9 re-opens at the exact place where I started.

So, I'm in a loop.

How can I download the complete manual?

Incidentally, this, and all the other questions that I'll be asking, was prompted by the thought "I wonder how to use this touchpad". My VAIO is a refurbished unit, and it came with no manuals...

It is a SVE1511F1EW and you can find the Sony Support area for this model here: -

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/SVE1511F1EW/manuals

It looks like the manual is web based - so it probably should open in IE.

The US Manuals are available here as a stop-gap: -

Hi swiftie.

Can you tell us the Vaio Product Model and perhaps we can find an alternative download.

By the way, what internet anti-virus do you have installed? If you have added your own product to the preinstalled McAfee then there have been lots of instances of a conflict preventing downloads.

Depending on which sticker to believe, it is either a SVE151D11M or a SVE1211F1EW

I've neither touched the default McAfee nor added any other security product. The downloads do work on occasions (something downloads) but no update ever gets applied.

Incidentally, it seems to me that starting the program "VAIO Manual" should actually be starting a standalond program. Instead, it is starting IE9, and displaying the brief version of the manual.

If I could work out why the program "VAIO Manual" is launching IE9 instead of the VAIO Manual program, I suspect I'd get a lot further.

Thanks for the US Manuals. I lived in the US for a couple of years, so I understand the language...

The following day, I'd calmed down a little, and found the corresponding manuals in the SONY UK site. There may be differences, so I'm using those now. I've found the instructions on the touchpad, and any other problems can be tackled at my leisure.
