protective film on vaio hinges

can any body tell me if the protective film on the screen hinges is meant to be peeled off or not?

I have not seen any new Vaio with protective film on the screen hinges – to which model are you referring?

If there is a protective film I can only assume that it was inadvertently left in place during manufacture.
