SVE14A2C5E will not load up

I purchased my vaio SVE14A2C5E a couple of months ago and after 1 month it suddenly stopped working.

During an update the laptop switched off and now will not load up. The vaio image comes up when switched on but then the screen goes blank apart from the mouse cursor (which does move when running my finger on the mousepad).

Tried taking battery out, CTRL-ALT-DEL etc but nothing works.

Any ideas greatly appreciated?

Hi mtb811,

It sounds like your Windows has become damaged due to the power off during update.

Can you boot up the laptop, power it down mid boot up e.g. when the windows logo is showing to power it up. Once you do this, press the power button again to start the laptop, does windows come up with an option similar to the following http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ss/safe-mode-windows-7_2.htm if it does, select the "Last known good configuration" option and try to start with that.

If the above does not work, try pressing the vaio assist button as per the following video: https://www.sony.co.uk/discussions/community/en/community/computing/learn_and_enjoy/blog/1142

If that doesn't work we may have to consider other options.

Hope this helps

Hi binbash

Thanks for the quick response.

I've tried both these suggestions and neither has worked unfortunately.

I'm not even getting a Windows logo, just the Vaio logo and then the screen goes blank apart from the mouse cursor which moves when I run my finger on the mousepad.

Thanks

Hi mtb811,

Hmm that is strange, when the mouse pointer appears, does it look like a normal windows one? What happens if you press Ctrl + Alt + Del keys?
