Hello everyone,
I have just purchased this new win8 ultrabook only to find out that the fan noise is at horrendous levels.
I cheked the temp with CoreTemp and it seems that the temperature when idle is at around 38-45 'C producing noticable annoying fan noise and when I run some not so CPU intensive tasks (web browsing etc) it easily reaches 60 'C and the fan noise at that point is unbearable.
Do you think there is a hardware issue with my machine and I should return it to Sony? Could you please advise what the procedure is in that case?

I've had the same model for about a week now, and mine is also noisy...

As this is such a new model, I doubt if any other users here can help. There are usually no user actions to solve this problem.
You need to discuss the problem with Sony to see if this is a known problem.
To contact Vaio Support: -
Click on SUPPORT (at the top of this page)
Choose 'Online Support'
Click on 'Contact Us' (at the bottom of the Welcome to Sony Support page)
Choose 'Vaio and Computing'
Enter your Vaio's Serial Number where requested
You will be taken to a page giving contact options - phone support seems the most effective
The option exists to return the Vaio to the seller if it is faulty from purchase.
Was this ever corrected? I am considering buying a similar model but really don't want a loud fan! Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!
