VGC-LT2S NO HARD DISK FOUND DURING SETUP?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am trying to install windows xp after removing windows 8 from my computer after creating new partition via fdisk with windows 98se startup disk but during installation I get in trouble when get a blue screen error message saying

"YOUR COMPUTER'S STARTUP PROGRAM CANNOT GAIN ACCESS TO THE DISK CONTAINING THE PARTITION FOR FREE SPACE YOU CHOOSE. SETUP CANNOT INSTALL WINDOWS XP ON THIS HARD DISK."

Please help me to resolve the issue and I will be really thankful to you.

Kind Regards

Kazmi

Hi skazmee and welcome.

The problem is that XP does not support SATA hard drives natively. You will need to provide the installer with the SATA drivers during installation of XP by pressing F6 at the start of Setup.

There are several ways of doing this. The usual way is to load the drivers from a floppy disc drive but you can also make a slipstreamed installation disc with the drivers included using something like nLite.

Google for 'Installing XP on a SATA Hard Drive' and you will find details of all these options.
