Sony MDR-1000x Headband broken

Hi, 

Have an issue whereby it seems that the adjustable headband has broken in such a way that frankly seems a bit impossible.

I sat down after going on a walk with my headphones on only to notice when I placed them down that upper section of the headband had come out of it's normal position; there looks to be a small notch which is intended to stop this from happening which has somehow come out of the gap and I'm now having a square peg into a round hole-type situation whereby it is completely impossible to get this back into place, there's simply no space to do this because of the notch getting in the way which is extremely frustrating and I have no idea how this could have happened in the first place because surely the notch that is not letting me put it back into the place similarly should have stopped this from ever coming loose in such a fashion. I tried jimmying it a bit and getting an angle whereby I could get the notch section in the gap first somehow and then slide in rest but had no luck. 

I haven't been able to find any talk of people with a similar problem so I'm hoping somebody out there might be able to help solve my issue; I've had these headphones for a little over 6 months now and they've been amazing up until this frankly weird problem. Please let me know anything that can be done to resolve this, thanks in advance!
