10 month old xperia X seems to have died during charging help needed

Hi, I've been using and charging my Xperia X without any issues, until I came to disconnect from charging last night and noticed a solid orange/amber light on and a black screen. is there a list of proceedure to follow to get my Xperia X working again? hopefully my photos on the internal memory will not be lost/corrupted as I havn't backed up this new mobile yet.

Try pressing power + volume up buttons together for 10 seconds.

Unfortunately the steps of holding the volume + and the power button for 10 seconds did not work. The Xperia X is 10 weeks old not 10 months (my typo). I can probably exchange it for a new one at the shop I purchased it from, but would rather find a fix so I can keep the current phone as I have photos stored onto its internal memory that are very important.

Is there any other steps I could try to get this handset responsive again? is there a reset button in the sim/external memory slot? if so what's the correct procedure for that route?
