When selecting 12 Hour Time from the settings instead of 24, time is shown in numbers as usual but no AM or PM indication lies next to it.

The time will be shown with just numbers (no AM/PM) in the status bar at the top. If you swipe down the notifications you should see AM or PM. You should also be able to see it from the lock screen.
