Auto brightness too low in dark

Anyone else finding that the screen is far too dim in auto mode if trying to use in dark? Slightly_frowning_Face

Care to elaborate?

Just to make sure we understand

settings > display > adaptive brightness > on?

Yes that's the one. I'm sure on my old z3c you could set a minimum and it wouldnt go under that level.

I don't have the Xperia X Compact nor the Z3C, I have the Xperia X and Z3 so I can't really test this.

Yes, I totally agree! It's the same experience I made.
Having the possibility to set a minimum low like with the Z3c would be better.

I've just checked in an updated Xperia X Compact and there isn't any setting for this.

There hasn't been an explicit setting for this on the Z3c either.

But in the Z3c the brighness level set manually was treated as a minmum. Meaning in auto mode the brightness went up in sunlight, but even in darkness it would never go below that level.

In contrast to this the X Compact in auto mode overrrides any manual settings, you can see that it moves the slider automatically (the Z3c didn't)  and eventually down to the lowest possible level (far left). This setting however is very dim and makes the display hard to read in a dark room.

Is there a way to escalate this as a fault to support, as its a pain in the dark?

@doogz,

I can forward this as user feedback. You can also contact your Local support regarding feedback.

Tbh I miss the xperia Z "enable backlight"  option,  with the android updates that option was gone, along with a very comfy dark screen perfect for low light conditions. Also it wasted less battery.
