Auto brightness too low in dark

Anyone else finding that the screen is far too dim in auto mode if trying to use in dark?

Yes. I'm finding the auto brightness setting in dark environments too low. Android 7 (Nougat).
It gets better in a little while, but upon unlocking it's clearly too dimmed.

Same here. I have Nougat of course with 34.3.A.0.206 and no matter how dark it is brightness doesn't go below 50%. If I adjust it manually (moving it to 20-30%), then it goes to 0 in dark environment automatically and gets stuck to 0. If I test it (using diagnostics) the sensor doesn't work anymore so the test fails. I don't think it's from Android but from Sony's adapted soft. It didn't happen on Z3Compact like the others said. And that was from the beginning not after some third party app installing. Maybe after Oreo upgrade we'll have some good news.
