Try to double tap gently with the tip of your finger at the lower third of the screen.

This does not help anyway, thank you.

It turns on randomly wherever I double tap, going down to the lowest third of screen does not improve the success % 😞

Hi @DMaino,

You might experience that your device sometimes doesn't wake up when you tap on it. The solution is to try these steps one after the other. Check whether the problem was solved after each step, before trying the next one.

  • Delay tapping the screen until it has been turned off for some seconds.
  • Tap the center of the screen.
  • Place the device in your hand and double tap the screen.
  • Try to double tap slowly.
  • Tap the screen three times.

I found this as well. Holding in hand seems to help, but I will try the 3 x tap. Its a great feature when it works.

With double tap to wake, does it ever wake up when you don't want it to?

I liked the idea of this feature, but the Z3 Compact would sometimes "accidentally" wake up and pocket dial one of my contacts Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes I wonder if this happens with the X Compact too?

The proximity sensor could be used to figure out whether or not the phone is inside a pocket... and avoid pocket dialing. The Nokia N9 did this well.
