Hi @SunilNalavade,

I understand how you feel. I will see if I can get some information about this.

Hello

Since the most recent Nougat update I can no longer set up groups in my contacts which is a huge need for my business - any ideas how I can get around this???

Thanks

I've now received some information about this.

As you may have noticed, the Groups tab in Contacts app has been removed in Android™ Nougat 7.0. You can still access your group data in edit contact view to create a new group or to edit members of a group. Group data that is already registered is kept, and you can still select which groups to be shown in Contacts list.

To create a new group

  1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Tap Contacts, then select a contact.
  3. Tap the edit icon > More fields.
  4. Tap the group field > Create new group.
  5. Type the name of the group, then tap OK > Save.

To select which groups to show in Contacts list

  1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Tap Contacts, then select a contact.
  3. Tap the edit icon > More fields.
  4. Tap the group field, then mark or unmark a group list.
  5. Tap the back icon, then tap Save.

Other group related features that has been removed includes:

  • Delete group.
  • Modify name of group.
  • Filter by specific group.
  • Create message or email to all group members. Group messaging is still supported in Messaging app and Email app.

Hi,

I am strugglnig to see how this helps me send a group text message. I can see inthe contacts that you can select a group/create a new group for a contact, but how do you then text the Group?

I believe from reading other posts that this functionality has been removed with Android 7, which is very frustrating when you want to send a message to 25 people.

Hi @TigerRatty,

I understand how you feel. If you frequently send text messages to groups I would recommend you to use another messaging app, Textra being one that is able to access your contact groups directly. There are likely other apps that can do this but that is the one that I am aware of personally.

I will of course also forward this as user feedback and I'm sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

Thank you, and please do, this seems a step backwards rather than an enhancement.

Hello,

have new Sony X and installed already last Android version: 7.0

Today I wanted to send a SMS to a group but groups are not displayed at contacts. The group information is available in the single contact but they are not grouped together. At google this group is given.

Any advice?
