Won't install latest update

For quite a while now, my phone's been seemingly unable to install updates. I click install, the phone restarts, comes back on and immediately says it needs to install the update. Currently on Android Version 7.1.1 on Xperia X Compact. Anyone have any idea how to resolve this?

I have found this solution on a Xperia XZ thread on this forum given by @nolramlb

You can try clearing data for the Software Update app through Settings > Apps > [menu] > Show system > Software Update > Storage > Clear data. Reboot your device after this and it will search for new updates again and notify you when you can try to update again.
