Xperia x overheating

My Xperia x is overheating and draining the battery very quickly. I have tried rebooting in safe mode and it is still heating up, but maybe not as much/quickly. I can't charge it properly as it over heats within minutes. Any ideas before I have to go to the shop it's from?? Thanks

The phone won't overheat, if it gets too hot it will shutdown, as for the phone getting warm, that's normal, and if it doesn't happen as fast while on safe mode the answer it's simple, third party apps running on the background are to blame for it.
