your device has failed verification and wll not work properly. your device will be powered offin 5 seconds
it has very important files on there and messages i really need to fix this. Help would be really appriciated
Hi @frankiebateman, welcome to the community.
I am sorry to hear you are having this issue.
Have you installed a custom ROM or rooted your phone?
no custom rom or ooting has been done. it has literary bricked by its self.... Is it oing to been a hardare failure ? if so is there any possble way to get the files from this ?
If you cannot get the device powered on I am afraid there is no way that I know of to retrieve the files that are on it.
See if you can boot it into Safe Mode first.
To do this, turn off your phone. Wait a few seconds and then turn in on again. Now during the boot process press and hold the menu key until the phone has booted completely.
I have also had this problem on my Xperia X. I'm less concerned with saving the files and more concerned with just managing to get it working again. So far rebooting using the power button and the volume key hasn't worked and it won't switch on long enough to connect to the computer at all. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
I would also only get the device back to working again. Worked well yesterday, charged over night, issues with GPS (didn't get a fix). Tried to fix this problem with a simple reboot and instead of coming up again I got the message cited above.
Does this mean - given the exchange so far - that the phone has just bricked itself?
Any help welcome!
Ps.: no custom ROM or any like that, latest regular update received from Sony few days ago (and probably not rebooted since).
Hi,
I have the same problem with an xperia X compact (on the normal upgrade path of Sony; received and installed the last system upgrade few days ago) and would actually be satisfied getting the phone working again.
Nevertheless I do not get into any mode where I could hold the menu button as the phone appears to be just telling me that "the device has failed verification" without "listening to" any other user input, thus booting into safe mode doesn't appear to be a possibility.
To start with: it would already be interesting to know if the issue is a software issue or if it refers to failing hardware.
The complete history before failing on my side was:
Last System Update received ans installed few (less than 4) days ago; potentially not restarted since then.
Phone charged over night (apparently some minor helper application from sony appears to have been updated during that time as well)
Tried to do navigation, nevertheless GPS didn't get a fix
Rebooted the phone (hoping that would correct the GPS issue) - only shutdown working; startup resulting in error message from above.
Hello,
I have the same problem. "Your device has failed verification and wll not work properly. Your device will be powered off in 5 seconds." just pops up on screen and the phone shuts down.
The mobile in this state cannot be started in SAFE mode.
I got my mobile into this state when i tried to put Sailfish OS in it. Something happened during the flashing and now i cannot do anything with it. I tried flashing new ROM in it, but it's pretty much impossible because both my PCs (Windows 10, Linux) won't recognise the device. That's because the phone won't stay powerd on long enough for the computer to even recognise it. I tried to repair it with numerous flashing programs (none of them worked). I also tried to do it with Sony PC Companion - same result.
My question is: Is there a chance to get my mobile repaired? Or is it just bricked and I have to buy new mobile?
I hope my question will be answered as soon as possible.
Warmest regards,
paczes
I'm not sure if the flashing procedure you used did brick your phone or not (it depends on what partitions got edited), but you can try the software repair using Xperia Companion process.
Make sure you have the latest Xperia Companion and not the old PC Companion, then turn off your phone and charge it. Start the repair process from your PC/laptop and connect your phone while turned off only when the software asks for it.
The phone is repaired via the Xperia companion. I had to let it charge for 3 hours. It does not matter if it turns off every 5 seconds. Thank you for your advice.
