Own videos on the TV

I have an Sony Bravia KDL-40EX525. This TV connected the PC with a LAN. I want to show my own videos based on a PC with VISTA to the TV. But I can't. Why? What is the failure? I have the formats: mpg4, flv and other. When I placed a video with mpg4 on a Stick in the TV (USB), it will run. ???

Please help me.

you need some kind of server software, like windows media player to serve the content to the tv set.

tversity used to make a free server and media player in windows can act as a server too

i tried to insert a link but this forum is a pain inserting links so go youtube and search 'media player server ps3' or something like that, then you can see how to set it up

altho the vids are to play from windows media player to serve the PS3, the same principles apply to the bravia seeing the server on the windows machine

quality may be an issue depending on what file types you are playing out, some will need transcoding on the fly, this will degrade performance

once the server is running on the pc  the bravia server settings will see the pc
