Sony SLT-A77VM (AF-A setup)

Can any one tell me how to change the AF-A setup to DMF function. In the Still shooting menu, under option 3, AF-A setup is not highlighted, so I can't change it to DMF functionality. The user manual doesn't seem to explain this. Can anyone tell me how if there is anything in the menue system that I need to change first or a setting on the camera.

I use the AF/MF switch on my lenses, would that work for you?

The DMF function is not available when using a SAL lens with a build in SAM AF drive.

As this AF drive can not decouple automatically on this lenses the MF ring can not be turned freely and therefore the DMF option can not be enabled.

The only lens with SAM drive currently is the Sony Alpha DT 18-135/3.5-5.6 SAM, which uses a special gear to allow the MF ring to turn in MF mode (and therefore allowing DMF functionality).

Lenses which are not compatible with DMF mode are:

  • SAL-1855
  • SAL-2875
  • SAL-55200II
  • SAL-85F28
  • SAL-50F18
  • SAL-35F18
  • SAL-30M28
