How can I extract contacts from .dbk file on my computer?

Hi,

I have files on my computer, backed up from Sony Xperia S, I do not have this phone anymore, but I need to get important contacts out of this .dbk file. How can I do this?

I can open the dbk file, but don't know how to open the contacts file inside it. The file is called "fullbackupdata", and it has no extension.

If you change the extension to .rar and open with winrar you'll see a folder named Applications open this and you should see a folder named com.sonyericsson.android.socialphonebook within this folder there are several files starting with the symbol @ - There will be 1 without this symbol - open this file with notepad and there is your contacts list - Same for txt messages look in Applications then com.sonyericsson.conversations all files without the @ symbol are your backed up txt messages

Problem is you will have to retype the names etc back into your phone

To change extension

Open control panel go to Folder options and untick the box near the top that says Hide extensions for known file types

Once done go to your .dbk file and rename to .rar example folders.dbk is now known as folders.rar - Then you will be able (If you have winrar install) to right click this file and left click example extract to folders\

There is only one file in this folder, named "fullbackupdata", when I open it with notepad I see only some unreadable symbols.

You can also use phoneMiner to open them

I have a similar problem. Did you figure out a way to open and read your data in the .dbk file? (or to be precise "fullbackupdata" file)
