My phone froze so I had to restart it, but it turned itself off instead and now it won't turn back on, anyone know why? or what i can do?
Hello Sony,
I used to have real faith in your products and spend plenty of money on them. I have bought a PS1, PS2, PS3, DHC-H9 camera, VPL-HS60 Projector, SE k800i and loads of TV's and Walkmans / MP3 Players and now own an X10 mini pro.
Well I'm done...
My DHC-H9 is having problems with shaking lens when I start up, the PS3 seems to lose features every firmware update and the X10 mini pro is driving me completely insane.
I can live with the 1.6 version of android but the phone dropping the network signal at random and only returns when I restart the phone BUT the phone will not start with the sim card inserted....
This is not acceptable. I use this phone for work and it's causing me to miss important calls because it has no signal. I have lost all faith in Sony products and will not be fooled again. Next time I will buy a HTC or something that works. I am stuck with the X10 now so please, please get this sorted ASAP.
We need a fix update for this phone. I have been back to the store and they said almost everyone who bought the phone has been back also and the SE agent told them that to fix it remove the sim enable and disable the background data and insert the sim again. This is not acceptable.
And while realising that smart phones have a limited battery life the X10 mini pro is just a joke. Compared to many other smart phones out there this one has one of the worst batteries on the market.
If anyone is thinking of buying this phone please be warned that it has loads of bugs and the battery life is crap.
Apologies to everyone else for the rant but I'm a very, very disappointed Sony customer....
But, if i can't turn on the phone, PC Companion doesn't "see" my phone!
Sidus.Solutions I recognize many of the problems you are experiencing. I have found some solutions that you might find useful.
First of all, the problem with the phone not turning on with the SIM card in: Call your service-provider and ask them to send you a new SIM card. My phoneprovider has realised that there is some general problem concerning SIM's and the X10 mini and freely send new SIM cards till the problem is resolved. In my case the SIM worked for a while, and suddenly, after a month, the phone would not turn on with the sim in. A new card fixed this problem completely.
As to your problems concerning battery life. I completely agree with you, 24 hours of online time is not good enough. But if you choose to activate 'Power Control' under 'Add Widgets' you will get very easy access to limiting the power usage of your phone (Wi-Fi, Update services, Brightness of Screen, GPS, Bluetooth) - this feature really helps limiting - and expanding - the daily battery life.
One more thing: Apparently this battery is made for being continually charged. With other phones you have to wait till the battery is near dead before you charge it. With this phone it is the opposite, I've been told. It actually benefits from frequen (i.e. every time you sit in front of your computer) charges.
All together, the phone works better for me now. Hope it will for you too.
How many times do we have to change the SIM card? For how long it will "fix" the issue? Maybe you are happy changing your SIM every month, but that is not a real solution. I've already changed my SIM three times and the problem persists. There is a bug in this phone and SE should be doing something to solve it, not the user.
Hi Carlosx,
I have managed to resolve the issue by running the repair on the phone.
Backup everything on your phone with the backup and restore feature as well as sync to SE. Then using the pc companion choose the option to repair the phone and follow the guide.
Its a pain as I had my phone setup the way I wanted and didn't do a proper backup so lost loads of settings etc but if you backup correctly you should be fine.
Since I have done this the phone has not dropped the signal *much* and if it does it comes back if I try and make a call. Everytime it dies or I need to power off I hold my breath but I have not had the issue starting back up. Its been about 2 weeks since I done this and so far so good. The battery still stinks and I don't think plugging the phone in everytime I'm in the office or home is a great solution. If I'm on the road for too long I'm screwed. I could get caught on a job for hours and I don't really like carrying the charger with me all the time.
I hope this resolves your issue and if you stuck leave a message and I'll try help...
Sony get this phone updated ASAP! You are only hurting your rep and your customers with the poor support. I have not even seen one responce from Sony E about the problems with this phone and ignoring the many issues does not make them go away...
Hi sidus,
I really appreciate your help. I just did a repair using PC Companion as you said and now it's working again (hope it's a solution until 2.1 arrives). With battery, well, it is another problem we have to deal with every day. I changed my launcher (I'm now using ADW.Launcher) and installed Advanced Task Killer and I noticed an improvement in battery life. For example, with the task killer I noticed there WAS a process called "com.android....homescreen" or something, when it was killed, battery started to last a little more, and there are more apps like this running in the background, so I guess those apps are part of the problem.
Hi everyone I have the same problem here, I realize that it's not an operator issue it's some problem with the sim card, i've tried the actualization twice already and still not turning of with my sim card, i tried with 3 diferent sim cards from the same operator and with 2 from the other operators and it doesn't work with 1 and it's the mine, I tried to do the repair with the pc compannion but i dont see how, when I open the companion in the support zone I only got the software actualization option and online support zone apreciate some help here please...
Hi Davets,
make sure you are using PC companion 2.0 available here - http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/pccompanion/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
Backup your phone and don't connect it to the pc until the end part!!
Starts PC Companion and choose "support zone" -
Then Hit Start on Software Update
Choose the Repair option on the popup
Pick you phone from the list (X10 mini Pro is on the left near the bottom) and hit next
Let it download the files needed and when it gets to this screen you need to connect your phone by doing the following.
Hold Back button, then Power and then connect the usb. It should detect the phone and start the repair.
The rest should be straight forward....
Good Luck!
Hi Carlosx,
Yea I was using a task killer for a bit but according to Android developers its best to let the phone handle its apps as the software learns to shut down apps itself over time and based on usage. Unlike windows where it just hogs memory all the time. I was told that if you kill off apps the OS won't be able to correctly work out what programs to kill after some time.
But I'm not sure that this works for Android 1.6
Hey SE,
after all the trouble I had I want to see Remote Play on my X10 like it is on the AINO.
Sort out the problems and bring remote play and I'll be happy!
Hi sidus thanxs for the post, i did the actualization on the phone but still stay without turning on with the sim card I don't know what to do to make it work....
