Hi jeromestyle, try to charge the to 100%, to do the actualization the phone should have to be turned on... so you better try to do it whitout the sim card and good luck...

p.s. My celphone takes like 30 minutes to turn on, and somtimes more everytime it's rebooted or turned off, what I'm trying to say is give it a try to just charge it to the 100%

and then just put the simcard and reboot it and wait for it. if you see that in 4 hours i doesn' t work try the actualization.

Jeromestyle, Re-install the firmware using SEUS Sonyericsson Update Service not the PC Companion software if you don't already have it installed you can get it from here

http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=...

Make sure you do follow the initial instructions they give.

Don't connect your phone until you are told to do so but first turn off the phone, remove the battery and leave for at least 5 seconds, then reinsert the battery but do not turn the phone on.

Start SEUS on your computer.

When it has started tick the box to accept the agreement and click start.

Select you phone from the list and double click on it.

The next screen you get will tell you to hold down the back key and insert the USB cable whist doing so, if it connects correctly a message will appear on the screen telling you to release the back button.

You can put the phone down now.

You will probably get a message saying you have the latest software but reinstall it anyway, this should repair your phone.

Depending on your internet speed it will take a while to download and install so just leave the phone to do its thing, it took mine about 10 minutes last time I updated teh software with a 20mb connection

When its finished close SEUS and disconnect your phone and give the on / off button a quick press leave it for a minute if it hasn't started give the on / off button a long press to turn it on.

If it has all worked your phone should only take a couple of minutes to start up and work properly again.

How do you take out the battery. Mine seem to be build in

I have an x10 not the mini if it has a built in battery just turn it off and leave it for a minute or so.

Run the update service tick the box to accept the licence agreement click next

Select your phone from the list, double click it or single clck and click next

This is now the part where you get the instructions on how to connect your phone

Connect the phone by holding down the back key and connect the USB between your PC and phone at the same time, you will get the message telling you when to release the back key don't release it until you are told to.

When it tells you that you already have the latest software re-install it again at this point, it should replace and repair the firmware for you, leave the phone until you are told you can disconnect it.

You will have to completely set up your phone again as it will replace everything including deleteing all your contacts, basically it should put the phone back to factory conditions.

Hi everyone,

I did a repair with pc companion, and it was working fine for about 2 weeks, but the problem is starting again (it wont turn on with SIM inside).... I've found another way to turn on the phone that seems to work (although I know is not a real solution). If the problem persists you can try this:

- Leave SIM card inside.

- Connect to your computer (with pc companion installed).

- At this point nothing happens.

- Press and hold back and on buttons a few seconds (green light turns on and pc companion says "buscando telefono.." ("looking your phone..").

- After a few seconds, phone must restart and now it will work again.

I did this several times (turning phone on / off, and this was the only way phone came back to life), and worked perfect, so you can give it a try. This way you avoid to restore everything to factory settings.

Hi Carlos , I've find out that the phone is not totally dead, if you leave it with the sim inside it'll turn on by it's own, is just that it takes a lot of time to turn on, the mine takes about 1 hour to turn on...

Hi guys, I just had the same problem this afternoon then I came to check online any solution for that. I didn't find anything specific but I've tried to use my girlfriend SIM card, from the same operator as mine and the phone turned on normally. This makes me believe that the problem is with the SIM, cause the phone turns on without SIM or with a different SIM card.

Mine SIM ins't 3G and her's is 3G ready.

tks

Hello,

I've been playing with the help posted on this forum for most of this evening so far. Just a hint for people so you don't waste time....

Despite installing the PC Companion software and it detecting the phone ok (without the SIM in it), doing some of the later steps suggested (doing a software update etc.) don't always work because the phone isn't detected putting the SIM card in. The reason for this is that Windows re-detects the phone as an 'SEMC Flash device' and then fails to find any drivers for it. Once it does this, you can un-plug and plug in the phone as much as you like, and you'll hear the USB device noise, and that's about it...

Before trying any of the stages that tell you 'hold down the back key and plug in the USB cable' right-click 'My Computer' and select 'Manage', left-click on 'Device Manager' and then delete your 'unknown devices'. then hold down the back key and connect the USB cable, and it should detect the phone. I'm trying the update service first, and if not, I'll have a go at wiping the phone all-together.

I hope this works as my wife's got the issue on her X10 Mini, and I've got a Mini Pro. Don't want to have to do this too often.
