I am having problems getting a wired internet connection to this Bravia TV to work. I have connected using powerline adapters to my sky sagem router. This seesm to be working ok as when I checked network status on the TV it does give me an IP address. However when I try and connect to the internet it comes back after trying with an on screen message that says Local access failed and Interner access failed. I can't get past this. i have tried a reset of both the router and a factory reset of the TV but problem remains.
Can anyone help?
Hi
Please check your details again, against those on your PC, on the same network, the details should be almost identical, except for the last 3 digits on the IP Address, see example below
PC, IP Address 192.168.0.10, Mac Address 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.0.1
TV, IP Address 192.168.0.20, Mac Address 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.0.1
if they do not match at all then the router is not talking to TV correctly and it has set a default IP, which will not work.
hi,
Thanks for the rapid response. It looks like you are correct and the router has set a default address . So is there a way of getting the router to communicate with the TV properly. there does not seem to be any menu options on the TV to change something to establish the link and so presumably I have do it from the router end. Can you provide any further help on how I might do that?
Thanks again for any help you can give with this.
Hi first thing to do is check your mains connection working with a laptop or PC, then reset TV and router and try again, once the hand shake completes all should be fine, but something is going wrong and on a wired set up, that can only be the router or the path to the TV. hope thi shelps
Hi,
Ok I will try that with my laptop when I get back to the house this evening and let you know what the outcome is. Am I to assume from your reply that establishing the connection on a wired line should be automatic and not require any security settings to be adjusted at the router end?
Thanks again for the rapid help.

Had my KDL32ex603 now for over a month and still cannot get it to connect.I have tried everything numerous times, except changing my ISP. Could Virgin be the problem? Is it possible that changing ISP might work? I'm getting desperate now.
Pity no-one from Sony seems to read this, or don't they know how to cure this?
255.255.255.0 is a netmask not MAC Address
Answering the question from below: no, you don't need to change any router settings as long as you're using default configuration and haven't switched on / configured any black/white list, ACL or MAC Address filtering.
Router's DHCP server will take care and configure the cable connection for you.
As mentioned below - the first test should be: an attempt to connect a laptop/netbook/notebook via the same link and see if it works.
(... and people, please stop resetting/restarting your routers - they're not powered by MS Windows )
