3g\4g Video Calling (network native feature)

Hello,

I just bought xperia x and I was surprised that I couldn't find the ability to make a video call instead of a simple call. I mean native network supported video call. I don't mean VOLTE\VILTE or apps like Skype etc. Please someone, verify whether there is the ability to make a video call and if so how it can be activated. It's a pity for such a phone that seems to be not possible. Anybody any idea?

Hi @nickodimi,

Video calls are not a part of the calling function in Xperia™ device. You can't make video calls using the native phone app, or via an operator. However, you can download and use a third party application. The prerequisite is that your counterpart uses the same application. The video chat solution is different depending on whether your device has a front camera or not.

Video chats require an Internet connection and charges may apply. Contact your network operator regarding possible costs for making video calls, and for the cost for using mobile Internet. You can connect to the Internet using either Wi-Fi® or the mobile network.

Note! Sony does not warrant or guarantee the performance of any third-party applications. Neither does Sony warrant or guarantee the performance of content downloaded or acquired in other ways through such applications. Similarly, Sony is not responsible for any damage or reduced performance of your device attributable to the transfer of third-party content.

Tip: You can use the preinstalled Google Hangouts™ application to make video calls. For instructions, refer to the Google Hangouts™ help website: Start a Hangout from the Android app.
