Camera heats up and shuts itself down

Sony Support,

Why is it that when I use my camera which by the way is quite nice, within 5 minutes or less it's already overheating and functions shut down. This cannot be typical as one should be able to use their camera much longer than 5 minutes. Please advise or send me an update to fix my issue

I am sorry to hear your camera isn't performing well. To get a better understanding, I need some more information.

Does your device only heat up when using the camera? Does this happen with the default camera app or are you using other applications? Are you taking videos or still images?

Still images and no videos. I'm using the exact stock camera app thats built with the phone. Yes, that is what the message pops up and says. Unit needs to cool down and functions have been disabled. It does not overheat doing anything else. This can't be typical and I definitely don't want to have to get another phone. The first X my touch screen stopped working towards the bottom so I'm on my second device. I am hoping you can advise me of a simple solution. When I take pictures I have to do so quickly before it overheats. I'm open to advice and repair support.

Thank you for that. No, 5 minutes of camera time is not typical, so there's definitely something going on here.

Can you please test your camera while your phone is in safe mode and see if there's any change?

Yes, I will give that a try. Please advise both ways after that. If it does still overheat or if it does not. What am I looking like from there bc I'll be in safe mode. If it runs well or not will safe mode remedy or please advise both avenues from that point in safe mode.

If it is not happening in safe mode, this would indicate that there is a third party process that is causing the problem. It may have a weird interaction with the camera app or the process that the camera is using. If this is the case, it is a matter of finding out what app is causing the problem and update or remove it.

If it is still happening in safe mode, then there is either an issue in the firmware of the device, in which case a software repair using Xperia Companion will resolve the issue. If the software repair does not resolve the problem, I would recommend you contact your Local support.

the camera is good but how does it matters if it close down in 2 minutes of video recording... or 25 snaps in HDR... feeling ashamed to say i have sony mobile

I have just realized that the problem is not de camera, is the camera app. Trye installing other camera app and it will not heat

Please Sony, could you improve and actualize your camera app?
