How can I extract contacts from .dbk file on my computer?

Hi,

I have files on my computer, backed up from Sony Xperia S, I do not have this phone anymore, but I need to get important contacts out of this .dbk file. How can I do this?

I did everything you said, but I have a problem. When I open the .tar file and go into the folder, all I can find is _manifest. Any idea what should I do?

   1. Extract Xperia backup “.dbk” file.

   2. Try folders "Applications\com.sonyericsson." and find the fullbackupdata file

          a) Applications\com.sonyericsson.android.socialphonebook

          b) Applications\com.sonyericsson.android.contactsimport

          c) Applications\com.sonyericsson.localcontacts

          d) other folder "Applications\com.sonyericsson."

   3.  Download restoreData.jar: http://ge.tt/64TJmne/v/0?c

   4.  Put “restoreData.jar“ in folder where is the "fullbackupdata" file

   5.  Double click the „restoreData.jar“, you will see a new file "restore.tar" extract it

   6.  Then navigate to restore.tar folder

           a) restore.tar\apps\com.sonyericsson.android.contactsimport\f

           b) restore\apps\com.sonyericsson.android.socialphonebook\f

           c) other folder "restore\apps\com.sonyericsson.android."

(if only find „_manifest“ file you find the wrong „fullbackupdata“ file, try another folders Applications\com.sonyericsson……. „fullbackupdata“ file)

    7.  If find in the “restore.tar“ folder „full_backup_vcard.vcf“ file open it with excel.

Try new version "Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.25 (64-bit)" from http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_64/

Hey there,

I followed the steps from 1 - 8 correctly but dint understand the 10th step, as there no file named 'restore.tar' that is showed up even though my fullbackupdata file is on the desktop and hence i cant do the 12th and the 13th step.

Kindly help me for the same.
